Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own chocolate chip mug cookie:
Butter: You’ll need softened butter for this recipe. You can soften butter quickly by cutting it into small pieces and letting it sit at room temperature for a bit, or by microwaving it in short bursts, being careful not to overdo it.
Flour: All-purpose flour / Plain flour is the best choice for this recipe. It’s a versatile flour that works well in cookie recipes.
Chocolate chips: You can use any type of chocolate chips you prefer for this recipe. Milk chocolate, semi-sweet, dark chocolate, or a combination of different types of chocolate chips for a more complex flavor.
Egg: You’ll only need the yolk of one egg for this recipe.
Sugar: You’ll need both granulated sugar and light brown sugar for this recipe. It’s important to use light brown sugar in this recipe, as it has a warm, caramel-like flavor. Use of dark brown sugar will make the cookie too moist and heavy.
Vanilla: Vanilla extract adds a warm, sweet flavor. Be sure to use pure vanilla extract, not imitation, for the best flavor.
How to make a Mug Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe?
In a microwave-safe mug, beat the butter and sugar until well combined.
Next, add the wet ingredients – egg yolk and vanilla and mix well.
Stir the dry ingredients – flour and salt until a smooth dough forms.
Mix in the chocolate chips and microwave for 40-60 seconds (1100-wattage microwave). Check if it’s done at 40 seconds. Mine was ready at 50 seconds when the cookie edges are slightly crispy.
Do not cook for more than a minute, as the cookies continue to cook even after removing the mug from the microwave.
Cool for a few minutes and then enjoy microwave mug cookie.
