Why I Love Making Roasted Broccoli in Air Fryer?

They cook faster than in the oven, which is a lifesaver on busy nights. A squeeze of lime at the end brightens everything up.

For a variation, I love making smashed roasted broccoli in the air fryer too—it’s crispy, tender, and full of flavor. What I love most is how fast it comes together and how flexible it is.
I love enjoying roasted broccoli on its own as a snack, toss it into grain bowls, or serve it alongside tarka dal or tomato gnocchi bake—the flavor holds up, and it never feels boring.

📋Ingredients

Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below

Ingredients for Broccoli
  • Broccoli: Fresh florets, washed and cut into bite-sized pieces. You can also use the peeled stalk for extra texture.
  • Olive oil: Just enough to lightly coat the broccoli for roasting or air-frying.
  • Lime or lemon: Adds a fresh, tangy flavor at the end.
  • Seasoning: Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika for a smoky, savory taste.
  • Toppings: Chili flakes for a mild heat (optional but recommended).

How to Cut Broccoli?

Use a knife to remove the leaves and separate the florets from the stalk. Hold the thick stalk with your non-dominant hand and cut off the florets. Discard the tough woody part of the stalk, and slice larger florets into smaller pieces for even cooking.

Are vegetables cooked in an air fryer healthy?

  • Airfryer cooks in less time, use less oil, and are so easy to clean up.
  • Air frying Vegetables are healthier than deep frying because you will need less or no oil.   It cooks faster than Oven but it is quite similar in healthiness to conventional ovens.
  • Air fryers use fewer oils as they work by circulating hot air inside the appliance utilizing less oil.
  • It makes for some yummy and quick side dishes like this roasted Asparagus, Hasselback Potatoes, Roasted Green Beans, and Corn on the Cob, when you’re in a pinch during the busy week.

Recipe FAQs

Can you air-fry frozen broccoli?

Yes, you can! Keep in mind that frozen broccoli tends to release more water, so it won’t get quite as crispy as fresh florets.

Can you freeze air-fried roasted broccoli?

I don’t recommend it. Once cooked, broccoli loses its fresh texture in the freezer and can turn mushy when reheated. It’s best enjoyed fresh from the air fryer.

How long does it take to cook broccoli in the air fryer?

Air fryer broccoli usually takes about 5–10 minutes at 180°C–200°C (350–390°F). The exact time depends on your air fryer model, the size of the florets, and how crispy you like them.

What does broccoli taste like?

Broccoli has a fresh, earthy, and slightly bitter flavor with a natural crunch. It’s a versatile vegetable that takes on spices and seasonings beautifully. When air-fried, broccoli becomes wonderfully crispy on the edges and extra tasty.

Does broccoli taste like cauliflower?

Not exactly. While they belong to the same family, their flavors are different. Cauliflower has a mild, slightly nutty and sweet taste, whereas broccoli is more earthy, grassy, and mildly bitter
