Veggie sausages cook brilliantly in the air fryer. They turn golden on the outside, stay juicy in the middle and need very little effort. This is my quick and easy method for achieving perfectly cooked air fryer sausages.

Perfectly cooked air fryer sausages — golden, juicy and ready for breakfast.

Quick Answer: Yes, you can cook vegetarian sausages in the air fryer. Most vegetarian sausages cook in 12–14 minutes, depending on the brand, turning golden on the outside while staying juicy in the middle. This method works well for Linda McCartney, Richmond Meat Free and Quorn sausages.

I love serving these air fryer veggie sausages alongside hash browns, air fryer hard boiled eggs, airfried mushrooms and toast for a full vegetarian breakfast. No oven. No mess. No standing over the hob.

On other days, I turn them into a quick veggie sausage traybake with peppers, onion and potatoes in the air fryer. It’s simple, hearty and always so satisfying.

Whether it’s breakfast or dinner, if you’re looking for an easy way to cook plant-based sausages, this method works perfectly every single time.

💛Why I Love This Recipe

  • The air fryer preheats in just 2–3 minutes. So much faster than a traditional oven.
  •  Ready in 12–14 Minutes. While the rest of breakfast is cooking, my veggie sausages in air fryer are done perfectly.
  • Crispy Outside, Tender Inside. Air circulation in the air fryer gives that deep-fried texture using very little oil.
  •  Minimal Oil Needed. You can cook air fryer sausages without oil, but I prefer brushing a tiny bit to prevent dryness.
  • Diet Friendly: Vegan, Vegetarian, Dairy-free

👩🏻‍🍳Expert Tips

  • Don't overcrowd the basket, as the sausages tend to steam, rather than roast. Place the sausages in a single layer with space around them.
  • Cooking from frozen? You don’t need to thaw. Just add 1–2 extra minutes and flip halfway through.
  • No need to pierce. I don’t make gashes in vegetarian sausages as they can lose moisture and dry out. Most packaging instructions don’t recommend piercing either.

📋Ingredients

  • Vegetarian sausages – They’re all brilliant options for veggie sausages in air fryer and little ones approve too! Use your favourite brand. In the UK, I regularly buy: Naked Glory, Meatless Farm, Quorn, Richmond Meat-Free, Linda McCartney and sometimes supermarket's own brand.
  • Sunflower Oil (optional) or olive oil helps the sausages turn golden and slightly crisp in the air fryer.

🔪How to Make Sausages in the Air Fryer

Making veggie sausages in air fryer couldn’t be simpler.

Plant-based sausages ready to go in the air fryer for a quick, fuss-free meal.

Step 1: Preheat the air fryer to 360°F / 190°C for 2 minutes. Place the sausages in a single layer in the basket.

Brush lightly with oil (optional).

Step 2: Air fry for 12–14 minutes, flipping halfway, until browned and crispy.

Tip: Smaller sausages cook more quickly. Smaller air fryers may require slightly longer cooking time.

🔪Cooking Different Types of Vegetarian Sausages in the Air Fryer

Most vegetarian sausages cook well in the air fryer, whether they're chilled or frozen. The cooking method is the same, although frozen sausages usually need an extra 2–4 minutes. Since cooking times can vary slightly, I always recommend checking the packet instructions for the best results.

I don't pierce the sausages before cooking because I find they stay juicier, and most packet instructions recommend cooking them whole.

🍽 Serving Suggestions

Serve Sausages along with hash browns, eggs, toast and tomatoes as a part of Vegan / Vegetarian English breakfast.

For Lunch / Dinner serve along with Indian smashed potatoes and gravy.

Serve on its own with ketchup, vegan burger sauce or any of your favourite dips.

❄️Storing Leftovers

Keep leftover air fryer veggie sausages in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 190°C (360°F) for 2–3 minute until heated through.
