Veggie sausages in air fryer are quick, easy and perfectly crisp every time. In just 12–14 minutes, they turn golden on the outside and stay juicy in the centre — no supervision needed. This is my easy method for achieving perfectly cooked air fryer sausages.

I love serving these air fryer veggie sausages alongside hash browns, air fryer hard boiled eggs, airfried mushrooms and toast for a full vegetarian breakfast. No oven. No mess. No standing over the hob.
On other days, I turn them into a quick veggie sausage traybake with peppers, onion and potatoes in the air fryer. It’s simple, hearty and always so satisfying.
Whether it’s breakfast or dinner, if you’re looking for an easy way to cook plant-based sausages, this method works perfectly every single time.

💛Why I Love This Recipe
- The air fryer preheats in just 2–3 minutes. So much faster than a traditional oven.
- Ready in 12–14 Minutes. While the rest of breakfast is cooking, my veggie sausages in air fryer are done perfectly.
- Crispy Outside, Tender Inside. Air circulation in the air fryer gives that deep-fried texture using very little oil.
- Minimal Oil Needed. You can cook air fryer sausages without oil, but I prefer brushing a tiny bit to prevent dryness.
- Diet Friendly: Vegan, Vegetarian, Dairy-free
👩🏻🍳Expert Tips
- Don't overcrowd the basket, as the sausages tend to steam, rather than roast. Place the sausages in a single layer with space around them.
- Cooking from frozen? You don’t need to thaw. Just add 1–2 extra minutes and flip halfway through.
- No need to pierce. I don’t make gashes in vegetarian sausages as they can lose moisture and dry out. Most packaging instructions don’t recommend piercing either.
📋Ingredients
- Vegetarian sausages – They’re all brilliant options for veggie sausages in air fryer and little ones approve too! Use your favourite brand. In the UK, I regularly buy: Naked Glory, Meatless Farm, Quorn, Richmond Meat-Free, Linda McCartney and sometimes supermarket's own brand.
- Sunflower Oil (optional) or olive oil helps the sausages turn golden and slightly crisp in the air fryer.
🔪How to Make Sausages in the Air Fryer
Making veggie sausages in air fryer couldn’t be simpler.

Step 1: Preheat the air fryer to 360F / 190C for 2–3 minutes. Place the sausages in a single layer in the basket.
Brush lightly with oil (optional).

Step 2: Air fry for 12–14 minutes, flipping halfway, until browned and crispy.
Tip: Smaller sausages cook more quickly. Smaller air fryers may require slightly longer cooking time.
⏲️Cooking Time & Temperature
| Type | Temperature | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Chilled veggie sausages | 190C | 12–14 mins |
| Frozen veggie sausages | 190C | 14–16 mins |
🔪Can You Cook Other Sausages in Air Fryer?
Although I only make Vegan and Vegetarian sausages in my air fryer, my friends cook all types of sausages -Italian sausages, Pork sausage links, chicken sausages. They tell me the process is the same.
I don’t make gashes in my sausages before cooking. I find they leak juices and dry out. Most packaging instructions don’t recommend piercing either.
