Start your day with this easy apple banana smoothie. It is one of those everyday drink recipes I make on repeat. Made with just three ingredients, this simple vegan apple banana shake works well for breakfast or as a no-fuss afternoon snack.

This is one of my husband’s favourite vegan apple banana smoothie recipe, mainly because it’s naturally sugar-free. And all the sweetness comes straight from the fruit.
If there’s one smoothie combination I always recommend for beginners, it’s this apple banana, milkshake-style blend. And if you’re not a fan of bananas, you’ll love my cinnamon apple smoothie instead.

👩🏻🍳Sandhya's Top Tips
- Use ripe bananas for the best sweetness and texture. Spotty bananas will make the smoothie even sweeter. Don't throw them away.
- Peel the apples just before blending to prevent oxidation.
- If you’re not using a high-speed blender, peel the apples for a smoother texture.
- Serve immediately for the best flavour and freshness.
📋Ingredients
(Detailed ingredients and quantity are mentioned in the recipe card below)

- Apple-I like using fresh, sweet apples such as Gala apples. You can use Fuji, Pink Lady, or Honeycrisp too. Peel the apple if needed, especially if you’re not using a high-speed blender.
- Banana-Ripe bananas work best here. Spotty bananas will give you a naturally sweet and creamy apple banana shake. If you’re using frozen banana, there’s no need to add ice cubes.
- Milk-I usually use unsweetened oat milk for this recipe. You can use Almond milk, Soy milk or even regular dairy milk.
Variations
- Add a handful of ice cubes if you like your smoothie extra cold
- For a creamier texture, you can add Greek yogurt
- If you prefer a higher-protein smoothie, add your favourite protein powder
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg. It’s delicious and gives apple pie vibes
- Add oats / chia seeds for extra fibre and to make the smoothie more filling
🔪How to Make Apple Banana Smoothie?

Step 1: Add the sliced banana, peeled and chopped apples, milk and ice cubes to a blender jar.
Top Tip: If you like you can also add optional add-ins like hemp seeds, chia seeds, protein powder, peanut butter or rolled oats too.

Step 2: Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust thickness of the vegan smoothie with more milk if needed. Pour in glasses and serve.
I like to add toppings like sliced banana, cinnamon powder and chia seeds. Its completely optional.
❄️Storing
This apple banana smoothie is best enjoyed straight away.
If needed, you can store it in an airtight jar with a lid in the fridge for up to 24 hours. The smoothie may separate when stored and slightly discolour due to oxidation, which is normal. Just give it a good shake before drinking.

🍽Serving
Serve the chilled, creamy apple banana smoothie immediately in a glass.
If you like, add a few banana slices, cinnamon powder and chia seeds as toppings.
