Announcing My Legume Love Affair , Thirty Second

Hello   February!!! My love for Legumes is never ending for vegetarians like me. I have to thank Susan , face behind The Well Seasoned Cook for giving me this lovely opportunity to host this event.. Rather let me say I grabbed this chance ,when Susan invited the fellow bloggers last year to host this monthly mingling event . I am taking absolute pleasure in inviting all my lovely readers , fellow bloggers n non bloggers to participate in this 32nd MLLA.

A legume is a plant in the family Fabaceae (or Leguminosae), or a fruit of these specific plants. A legume fruit is a simple dry fruit that develops from a simple carpel and usually dehisces on two sides. A common name for this type of fruit is a pod, although the term “pod” is also applied to a few other fruit types, such as vanilla and radish. Well-known legumes include alfalfa, clover, peas, beans, lentils,carob, soy, and peanuts.

To Participate:


  • Prepare any vegetarian/vegan recipe with legumes as the star ingredient. Any cuisine, any course is acceptable as long as it features legumes as a dominant ingredient. (Please note : The term ‘Legume’ in French refers to any kind of vegetable.They are not included in this event)
  • Multiple entries are welcome (entries in English only please) although only one submission will be counted towards the random drawing.
  • Post a recipe between now and 28th February ’11 .Please provide a link to this announcement page and to Susan’s event page.
  • Send a mail with MLLA in the subject line to sandhyaskitchen[at]yahoo[dot]com with the following details.
  • Your name
  • Location (Optional)
  • Your blog name
  • Name of the entry/recipe
  • URL of your post
  • An optional photograph of the final dish that is  preferably resized to 400 X 300 (in pixels) or 300 X 400 (in pixels)
  • If you don’t have a blog but would like to participate, send an email with the recipe and the above-mentioned details and your entry will be included in the round up & prize draw.
  • Recipes submitted to other events are also permitted.
  • Recipes from archives or older posts are accepted only if they are re-posted with a link to this announcement page and Susan’s event page.

All the lovely cooks ,pack yourself with your apron n chef’s cap and present a delicious recipe loaded with legumes.
1) Winner chooses any cookbook or food-related book from Amazon U.S. valued at not more than 15USD for the book itself.  This prize is offered by Susan at her expense and she will also absorb worldwide shipping charges.  F.T.C. Notice: Susan does not receive any compensation from Amazon.
2) Hurst Bean Box – A case of six bags of the winner’s choice of Hurst Bean products, suitable for every diet, sponsored by Hurst Bean. (Due to shipping restrictions, this prize can only be awarded if the winner is a U.S. resident.) F.T.C. Walnut Cinnamon Muffin

M  uffins are something that I just bake anytime. There is no time or day or muhurat that I need to plan to make.. This muffin was a result of staying awake with my lil one late nite.. Lil V slept late evening.. and before I wud hit the bed ,he wakes up at 11.30pm … Oh oh…. I wud have been a bit upset generally if tat happens… But this new year , just decided for myself to get a little more patient.
Spent the next 2 hours cleaning , playing and baking this delightful muffin at 1 am .

Celebrations with Tiramisu Cake


A  Very Happy New Year to all !!! May all the wishes cum true .Lets travel an extra mile to fulfill our resolutions… Lets try hard to live upto our resolutions this year and feel satisfied!! 2010 has been quite an eventful year with 2 recognitions for Sandhya’s Kitchen.. Have baked like never before in 2010.. 2 proper cakes with frostings in 1 week… between Christmas and New year Voila !!! One of them is this Tiramisu Cake .. the other one was an Eggless Chocolate Cake with Tofu .Sooper delicious.. Sorry but no clicks sadly!
Final hour of 2010 and the first hour of this year was being spent baking a lovely eggless cake.. Does tat mean I will be baking all through the year ..even more than last year ?? Lets see and will surely discuss .. about this!!!

Chocolate Fudge

B ingo !!! from the very first attempt.. Quite technical in its method of preparation.. Definitely need to roll up your sleeves , gear up and use all ur muscle power … then you are bound to get it right..

Followed it algorithmically the first time.. Confidence I  would say a bit of over confidence crept in me the second time and had to do double work… The saying was quite apt.. Over Confidence leads to miseries & disasters… Realised my bit of over  extra confidence at an earlier stage… Let it loose then and thr.. Done n Dusted  and had to redo from half way …. Verdict —- Pictures are up here !!!

Ultimate Chocolate Cake

T hese come straight from my diwali get together … I had baked them as a surprise dessert for our party… But looks like most people had anticipated a dessert from my end 🙂

Just as the name.. An ultimate chocolate cake with just chocolate n chocolate.. For chocoholics.. this is bingo!! Kids came up for 2nd servings and most of them relished it to the max.
My best critic Mr SK felt there wasnt sufficient frosting between the layers and hence cudnt rate it the best cake to his standards. Probaby I had to spread more bits between the layer and should have allowed to cool down before sandwitching. Whereever there were extra frosting bits , Mr SK loved it.. and said we could have more of them..
