My air fryer avocado fries are made with no oil and ready in just 20 minutes. Thick-cut avocado slices, coated in spiced breadcrumbs and air-fried until golden and crisp on the outside—soft and buttery inside. No deep frying, no oil spray needed!

I make these when we want a fun, easy healthy-ish snack that feels a bit special. And when I have plenty of avocados! ( This is how I freeze the avocados)These avocado fries are great as a light appetizer, party bite, or even a side with wraps and burgers. This air fryer recipe uses no oil absolutely like the ones for air fryer onion rings!

How to Make Air Fryer Avocado Fries?

  1. Cut the avocado – Slice each avocado in half, remove the stone, and carefully peel. Cut into thick wedges (about ½ inch).
  2. Set up two shallow bowls – One with the wet mix (flour, milk, spices, hot sauce), and one with the dry mix (spiced panko bread crumbs).
  3. Coat each slice – Dip into the wet mix, then coat in panko breadcrumbs. Shake off any excess. Tip: Use one hand for wet, one for dry to avoid clumps!
  4. Air fry – Preheat the air fryer to 200C / 400F for 4 minutes. Add the breaded avocado slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 8–10 minutes until golden, turning once halfway through.

Dipping Variations

Serve right away with any of your favourite dipping sauce—tomato ketchup, sriracha mayo, sour cream and chives dip, vegan burger sauce or a yogurt garlic sauce!

Seasoning Variations

I like to get creative with seasoning sometimes for a variation.

  • Cajun spice
  • Taco seasoning
  • Italian herb mix
  • Chilli powder + lime zest
  • Instant Garam masala

Sandhya’s Expert Tips

  • Use firm avocados – Soft ones will turn mushy when cooked. If you have plenty- see how to freeze Avocados.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket – Airflow helps make them crisp. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Flip halfway through – It helps them brown evenly.
  • Season both mixes – Adding flavour to both wet and dry mixtures gives better-tasting fries.
  • No oil needed – I didn’t use a drop of oil or spray, and they still turned out perfectly crisp!

Storing Leftovers

These crispy air fryer avocado fries are best when hot and fresh. But if you do have leftovers, place them in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to a day. Reheat in the air fryer at 180C / 350F for 2–3 minutes to bring back that crispiness.

Recipe FAQ's

Do I need to preheat the air fryer?

Yes, for this recipe I recommend preheating. It helps the fries cook evenly and crisp up well.

Can I reheat avocado fries in the air fryer?

Definitely! Just air fry them again at 180C / 350F for 2–3 minutes. They’ll turn crisp again on the outside.

Can I bake these avocado fries in the oven instead?

Yes! Bake at 200C / 400F for 12–14 minutes on a lined baking sheet. Turn them halfway through so they crisp up on both sides.

What kind of avocado should I use?

Go for firm-ripe avocados. If they’re too soft, they’ll be hard to coat and can get mushy in the air fryer.

Can I make them ahead of time?

You can prep the avocado slices and bread them ahead of time. Just store them in the fridge for a few hours before air frying. I recommend frying them fresh just before serving for best results.
