Easy Instant Pot Apple Cider recipe
I have always made Apple Cider in a large pot and allowed it to simmer for a minimum of 2 hours. Every now and then I would come around to check if they are done or not.
Now that I enjoy the convenience of using Instant Pot, I like to use them whenever and wherever I can cut down on the cooking time.
Use this hand-off method to set the Instant Pot and forget it until it’s done! This is convenient, isn’t it?
Ingredients
Come fall every year, I love to make this Apple Cider from scratch for the family. You only need a handful of ingredients to make this exciting Homemade Hot Apple Cider. Most of the ingredients are always available at home.
Apples – I like to use a combination of Gala Apples, Granny Smith, and Honey Crisp. The combination of apples tends to lend a balance of sweet and tart in the cider drink.
Citrus fruits – A combination of Oranges and Lemon work wonderfully. But feel free to use just oranges if you like it more.
Cranberries – add a wonderful Christmassy feeling, so I add them in this season. But you can choose to leave it out if it’s not available.
Spices – Cinnamon Sticks, Star Anise, and Cloves – Add them to spice your drink.
Ginger – Optional. But add them in, if you like a little more warmth in your drink.
Sweetener – Brown Sugar, White Sugar, Maple Syrup, Honey, Stevia – All of them work really well. Choose whichever suits you. You can take a step forward and add some Dates too as an alternative sweetener

Tip -Tuck all the cloves in the orange and then add the spices By doing so, it is easy to remove the infused spices later on. This is optional.

METHOD TO MAKE STEP BY STEP DUMP & START APPLE CIDER IN INSTANT POT
Wash the fruits and cut them into quarters or discs. All the fruits are going to get muddled and strained.
To the Inner Stainless steel Pot of the Instant Pot, add apples.
Add Oranges.
Next, add cranberries. It’s in the season, so I like to include them. But you can always make it without it.
Add sweetener of your choice. I have added light brown sugar. You can add maple syrup, honey, stevia or even white sugar.
Tip in the whole spices. I have added a cinnamon stick, star anise and cloves. Tuck all the cloves in the orange and then add. By doing so, it is easy to remove the infused spices later on. This is optional.
Pour enough water to cover the fruits. Use a spatula to push the fruits to the base of the pot and add more water if required.
Cook on HIGH PRESSURE FOR 15 MINUTES. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes after which you can release it manually.
Pick out all the spices from the Mulled Apple Cider and discard it.
Using a potato masher, muddle all the cooked fruits to extract as much pulp as possible. Strain through a fine-mesh.
Store them in a mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Serve hot or cold as desired! I like to serve my non-alcoholic apple cider warm with a cinnamon stick, star anise and cranberries.

Dana Gilchrist says
I just made this cider and must say it was truly delicious. I used a mixture of apples, honeycrisp, empire and cortland. Now I did misread the recipe and used twice as many cranberries so the cider had a pink hue to it, but I like cranberries and it gives it a festive look. My husband is diabetic so we can adjust the sweetness and the sweetener used to suit his needs. I will make this again, it is much tastier than the premade cider.

Thank you so much Dana. I am so glad your family loved it. Pink Hue works well for special occasions isn’t it.
