I have been making this cranberry sauce on the stove top all this while, but it does require a bit of baby sitting. With the convenience of the pressure cooker, I like to dump & start – really as simple as that.

The number of requests and queries I see on Instant Pot Community on Facebook, I really thought it is absolutely worthwhile in creating a recipe post with step by step method to making this Christmas Cranberry Sauce.
We are talking about just 5 ingredients and just under 25 minutes for this ORANGE CRANBERRY SAUCE from scratch!
I have always loved to see this ruby red cranberry sauce on our Christmas table. Making your own Cranberry Sauce is really easy and you can very well do it a few days in advance. Plus, it is made from just 5 ingredients and it thickens as it cools down.
I CALL THIS MY BEST CRANBERRY SAUCE BECAUSE
Super Easy – This recipe for Cranberry sauce is absolutely fuss free with 5 ingredients. There are no special techniques involved to making this delicious sauce.
Make Ahead – Its absolutely low maintenance and you can make it ahead of time. Plus, you can freeze this cranberry sauce for up to 3 months.
Can be made Refined Free – Simply swap the sugar for Maple Syrup or Honey or even Stevia.
Quick – Really very quick. Just under 25 minutes, you have got this delicious most Cranberry Sauce on the table.
Super Flavoursome – With the wonderful combination of ingredients, this sauce is uber flavorsome. Orange Zest and Cinnamon
Fewer Ingredients – Just 5 ingredients. You can even settle in for 3 if you would like.
Customisable – Don’t like Cinnamon, leave it out. Add in Vanilla extract. If you would like it with warm flavors, add ginger powder.
Nothing can go wrong – This sauce can be prepared by your 10 years old. There is nothing so difficult or fancy in the recipe to get it wrong.
FESTIVE CRANBERRY SAUCE INGREDIENTS
You need just 5 ingredients to make my favourite Cranberry sauce in the pressure cooker.
Cranberries – Every autumn between September to November is the season for Cranberries. I love to use them in abundance in this time of the year. I also end up buying in plenty to freeze it for All year round supply. Both Fresh and Frozen Cranberry works well for this recipe.
Orange Juice – Orange Juice adds great citrus flavors to this sauce. Ideally I like to zest out the oranges first and then squeeze out all the juice for making the sauce. Alternatively, orange juice from cartons also works.
Orange Zest – Grate the orange just like how you would grate the cheese , moving all around the circumference until you get all the colored part.
Sweetener – I have used 1 Cup of White sugar to make this cranberry sauce. For refined free Cranberry Sauce, swap the sugar for honey or maple sryup. Use 1/2 a cup of Honey or Maple Syrup .
If you like you sauce a little bit more tart, reduce the sugar by 1/4 cup. So use only 3/4 cup sugar.
Cinnamon – 2″ Cinnamon Stick or 1/2 tsp of Cinnamon powder – Either of them works.
Vanilla Extract ( optional ) – I like to use them occasionally in my recipe.
How to make Homemade CRANBERRY SAUCE in Pressure Cooker?
The process of making Pressure Cooker Cranberry Sauce is straight forward.
Dump and start all the ingredients for Cranberry Sauce in the Instant Pot.
Cook on HIGH PRESSURE FOR 3 MINUTES. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes after which you can quick pressure release any remaining steam.
Once you open the Instant Pot, Press Saute. Allow the sauce to boil down until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool. They begin to thicken as they cool down.
Though the pressure cook time is only 3 minutes, Please keep in mind the pressure build up time is approximately 12 -14 minutes.

How do you get Orange Zest?
Grate the Orange just the way you will grate the cheese. Move grater around the circumference of the orange and grate until you have all the coloured part.
Do not grate the pith of the orange, as they will leave you with bitter flavors.
How do you Quick Pressure Release Instant Pot?
Quick-release is the process of releasing the steam after cooking. To quick pressure release on the Instant Pot, carefully turn the valve from STEAMING to VENTING position. This will result in a strong jet of steam coming from the pressure release valve . Once the steam has released completely from the valve, the float valve will drop into the lid when the cooker has depressurised. I prefer to use a spatula to turn the valve.
It is now completely safe to open the Instant Pot lid.
Remember to keep your face away from the Jet of Steam!
What does Cranberry Sauce go with?
Cranberry Sauce is a multipurpose sauce that goes along with a lot of dishes. They make a excellent glaze for the Grilled Meat.
Serve them along with your Christmas as well as Thanksgiving meals.
Swirl them in to your yogurt at breakfast time.
Add them on the top of your American Pancakes or on top of Classic waffles
Can I freeze the Cranberry Sauce?
Cranberry Sauce freezes beautifully for up to 3 months.. Store the homemade cranberry sauce in small airtight containers or freezer-safe plastic bag. Ideally you can pick one container at a time and defrost them for use .
To use the frozen cranberry sauce , defrost in the refrigerator overnight and they will be ready to use next day.
Does Cranberry Sauce need to be refrigerated?
You can store the Instant Pot Cranberry Sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
How to make NO Cook Fresh Cranberry Sauce ?
I really love Marry Berry’s No Cook Sauce. Simply add all the ingredients to the food processor and process until smooth. Here’s the recipe just incase you need.

INSTANT POT EASY CRANBERRY SAUCE RECIPE BELOW

Ingredients
- 3 Cups or 12 oz Cranberries
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Orange Zest
- 1/2 Cup Orange Juice
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- Vanilla Extract Optional
Instructions
- Add orange juice, cranberries, sugar, orange zest and cinnamon stick to the inner pot. Add Vanilla extract to the pot at this stage if using.
- Secure the lid and turn the vent to sealing position.
- Pressure Cook on HIGH for 3minutes. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Quick Pressure Release afterwards. { Remember to account for the pressure build up time, which is roughly 12-14 minutes }
- When the Pin drops, open the Instant Pot Lid.
- Remove the spices with the tongs and discard.
- Press SAUTE . Stir the sauce with laddle and they tend to mash up in the process.
- Allow the sauce to boil down for 4-6 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool before serving. The cranberry sauce tends to thicken as they cool down.
- Transfer the prepared Cranberry Sauce to a serving dish and serve with your favourite Christmas meal.

HOW TO MAKE DUMP & START CRANBERRY SAUCE STEP BY STEP
Add orange juice to the inner pot of the Instant Pot.
Now add cranberries, sugar, orange zest and cinnamon stick to the inner pot.
