I make Idli Dosa batter frequently at home. Whenever batter is ready, Kuzhi-paniyaram and Uttapa are a regular breakfast / after school snack recipe in our household. It is so quick and easy, I like to prepare this onion uthappam instantly!

WHAT IS UTTAPAM?

Uttapam is thicker variety of dosa { lentil pancake } made with idli dosa batter. You can use store bought idli dosa batter available in any Asian Stores for a quick fix or make them at home too! I’ll share a detailed recipe soon on How to make your Idli Dosa batter at home and tips for fermenting them too.

Uthapam is such a staple recipe and surprisingly I haven’t shared them before with you.  It is so quick and easy to make, that it can be prepared instantly when you have the batter ready. We like a variety of this thick dosa and all the variations depends upon the toppings you are going to add.

HOW TO SERVE UTTAPAM?

Uthapams are served with Coconut Chutney , Tomato Chutney & Sambar. But my little one just loves it with Ketchup. I have always loved indulging in rava idly, uttapam at Darshini Hotel and other pure veg restaurants in Bangalore, every time we visit India.  They are one of my favourites on my MUST EAT recipes!
