Hi guys, Ophir Oriental Spiced Gin will transport you away from the cold winter to the warmth of the Oriental Spice Route.
Launched in 2013 by Quintessential Brands,  London Dry Gin is infused with botanicals from along the traditional spice route was brought back to the UK. Indonesian Cubeb berries, Indian black pepper and Moroccan coriander are all used in this gin. We have teamed up with Ophir to giveaway one 70cl Oriental Spiced Gin to one lucky reader of Sandhya’s Kitchen.

They have shaken a mouthwatering Opihr’s Winter in Marrakech Recipe that one will enjoy in this weather. Find the recipe below. For another variation with this Gin, check out my recipe for Gin & Tonic in Pimms Style.

Spiced Gin

50ml Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin (or 2 shots),
25ml Amaretto (or 1 shot),
25ml cranberry juice (or 1 shot) – add more according to taste,
10ml lime juice (or 2 teaspoons)
Orange peel to garnish.

Directions
Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice cubes. Pour Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin, the amaretto, cranberry and lime juice over ice into the shaker.

Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Pour into the glass. You can leave some ice for extra freshness. Create a 5cm long strip of orange with the orange peeler, twist around a straw and drop into the glass.

I got a bottle of this a few months ago. I shook a large measure of gin and a dash of vermouth with 2 crushed cardamom pods, some freshly cracked black pepper, a sprig of coriander and some homemade rose-water sugar syrup. After straining into a martini glass I garnished it with some more fresh coriander. I think it would be lovely served with sugared rose petals.

I’m a big fan of flavoured gins, my fav at the moment being elderflower gin. Until I taste this I won’t really know what to put it with……So to begin with … Just a good old G&T!

In this weather I’m thinking of a warm drink like a mulled wine, so I’d put some Opihr gin in warm chai tea, minus the milk, and add some Cointreau. That should warm me up!!
