Sausage rolls are great for picnics, garden parties, or even lunch boxes. They are the perfect snacks for larger gatherings during the holiday seasons – Christmas/ Thanksgiving.
I don’t prefer enjoying them as a meal by serving them with a mash, roasted veggies, and gravy.
I do like to make Sausage mummies for Halloween parties – you will not believe how simple they are until you try them.
Variations
Sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds as I have on these mini sausage rolls.
If you are a marmite lover, brush a little inside the puff pastry before placing the sausage rolls.
To make Sausage Cheese rolls, sprinkle a little mozzarella cheese or cheddar cheese.
Spread a little apple chutney, onion chutney, or cranberry chutney inside the puff pastry for enhanced flavors.
Vegetarian Sausage rolls – Hot or cold?
I would highly recommend eating warm puff pastry sausage rolls. The flaky pastry made with butter and the vegetarian filling needs to warm and melt to give us delicious rolls.
How to Freeze Puff pastry Vegetarian Sausage rolls?
You can freeze the vegetarian sausage rolls unbaked or baked.
Unbaked sausage rolls – Simply make the sausage rolls, do not brush the egg wash, and place them in a baking tray open in the freezer. Once they have frozen, place them in the freezer-safe bags. To cook, simply apply egg wash and bake from frozen in the oven.
Baked sausage rolls – Once cooled, place them in freezer-safe bags and freeze until ready to enjoy. To reheat, place the frozen sausage rolls in the air fryer/oven and cook until done.
