350ml/12oz 2% Milk
2-3 Tsp Black Tea Powder / Tea Powder from Tea Bags
1" Inch Ginger

4 Tsp Sugar
  1. Slice the ginger into circles.Gently Pound the spices in Mortar.
  2. Use store bought black tea powder or use the Tea Powder from your tea bags.I do slit the tea bag and use the powder for making Masala Chai.
  3. In a large saucepan, heat the water, milk along with the tea powder, spices and ginger until it comes to boil. Simmer the Chai for at least 5- 8 minutes and turn it off.
  4. Strain and discard the spices/ brewed chai solids. Add sugar and serve hot Indian Masala Chai.
Recipe Notes

You can increase or lower the spices to your liking. I like to add about 3/4 tsp of sugar to each of the cup. Allowing the brewed chai to settle in a pan for sometime will maximise the flavors. If you would like to use only milk for the recipe, use 1% milk I will not reckon using the tea bags as it is.. slit open the tea bag and use the tea powder for making this chai.
