This simple Beans Poriyal recipe is made with french beans, coconut and tempering spices.

Ingredients
  • 400 g French Beans Washed and cut into small pieces
  • 1 Green Chilly
  • 2 Tbsp Fresh Grated Coconut
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric
  • Salt to taste
Seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Split Black Gram Also known as Urad Dal
  • 1 sprig 10 No’s of Curry Leaves
  • 3 Dried Red Chilly
Instructions
  1. Heat Oil in a Deep Bottom Pan and add mustard seeds. Once they crackle, add split black gram, curry leaves and saute for 25 seconds. Add French Beans, Turmeric, Salt, just about 1/2 Cup of water and cook on medium flame, covered until tender.
  2. Grind Coconut along with green chillies in a blender and add the coconut mixture to Beans Poriyal. If you would like it plain, omit the green chillies in this step and just add grated coconut.
  3. Serve Hot French Beans Poriyal along with Sambar and Rice .

Recipe Notes

If you enjoy a little extra heat, add one more green chilly while grinding. For a variation, add finely chopped onion in the initial step.
