Homemade Ribbon Pakoda is an instant South Indian snack prepared during the festive season of Diwali. Quick, easy, ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients
1½cuprice flour
½cupgram flour
1tbspsoftened butter
Salt to taste
¼ -½asafoetida
1tspchilli powder
1tspWhite Sesame seeds - optional
½-¾cupwater
oil for frying
Instructions
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
To a mixing bowl, add rice flour, gram flour, salt, asafoetida, chilli powder, sesame seeds and butter. Mix together.
Now add a little water at a time to make a soft dough. Take a tablespoon of hot oil from the frying pan and add it to the dough. Knead again.
Pinch a portion of the dough and make logs.
Place the murukku plate in the press. Add the pakoda dough upto 3/4 of the press. Press the dough into the oil in a circular motion starting from edge to centre. Flip it to the other side and cook for a total of 5-7 minutes or until the bubbles cease. Repeat the process to finish the dough.
Transfer them to a kitchen tissue. allow them to cool down completely.
Store in airtight container and enjoy ribbon pakoda.
