Pav Bhaji Pot Pie

Pav Bhaji Pot Pie is simply a delicious appetiser to make with leftover pav bhaji & puff pastry sheet.

Pav Bhaji Pot Pie

Pav means Bread and Bhaji is a vegetable medley stirred with spices. Its a classic Mumbai street food that any food lover cannot deny. I can vouch on my flavors of Pav Bhaji and it turns out perfectly every single time.  I inaugrated my classic Mini Cast Iron Casserole Dishes from Proware Kitchen and made us some fusion Pav Bhaji Pot Pie.

Pav Bhaji Pot Pie

Yay!! And thank God its almost Friday. Time to indulge in my favourite street food again. I really cannot believe we are just about to enter our weekend zone. As we approach Weekends, its sometimes like enjoying an elaborate comfort food or sometimes all about street food or even indulgence meal. It all depends on how the week has treated us…

We experienced a heatwave this week with a whopping 35C. I was feeling awfully drained because of the heat, whilst we also indulged in ice creams like never before. The kiddo’s didn’t have restriction in the numbers — They had not 1, not 2 sometimes 3 a day:) Everything seemed to have come to a stand still. The house felt like a hot furnace no matter how many Fans/ Coolers we had at home..
We had dinner outside in our garden even after the sun set.. just because it was much cooler than the house…

Pav Bhaji Pot Pie

At a point, I felt we were camping in our own house. The boys were finding the coolest part of the house to retire for the day and it was definitely not the bedroom..

Phew!! I am so so glad that weather is behaving again and we have our ‘Original’ UK Weather back at 24 C.

Every other person in UK would speak to you about weather, right from your family to when you step out of the house.. It would be the first line of the conversation maximum number of times..

I am so glad that things are returning to normal .. and I am having the energy and zeal to post this recipe for you.

This exciting recipe of Pav Bhaji Pot Pie is my absolute favourite fusion recipe. Serving my all time favorite Pav Bhaji as Pie’s ,work great as starters.

Pav Bhaji Pot Pie

Pav Bhaji Pot Pie

Ingredients
Puff Pastry Sheet, thawed ( as per instructions )
4 Portions of Pav Bhaji { Recipe in the link }

Garnish
1 finely chopped Onions
finely coriander leaves
small butter cubes
lemon wedges

Directions
Heat the oven to 200 C.
Unroll the puff pastry sheet and make 4 disks to the size larger than the cast iron pan.
Lightly oil/butter the cast iron casserole dishes on the inner side and fill it with pav bhaji mixture to 3/4. Place the puff pastry disk on top of it and seal the edges lightly. Repeat the process for the other 3 cast iron pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 – 25 min until the pastry is golden brown. Allow them to cool down for 5 minutes before garnish.
Garnish with chopped onions, coriander leaves and butter cubes. Serve hot along with lemon wedges.

Notes: If you have any left over Pav Bhaji, don’t think twice. Toast some dinner rolls and serve them along..

For all my lovely readers and friends who were gawking at my curtain raiser image of these gorgeous Mini Cast Iron Casserole Dishes, I have got some great info about these pans for you.

Mini Cast Iron Casserole Dishes
These 10cm Mini Cast Iron Casserole Dishes from Proware Kitchen are made from durable cast iron that has excellent thermal retention. My Pav Bhaji Pot Pie stayed warm for good length of time. They works fabulous for serving individual portions of oven baked dishes as well as being suitable for individual servings of curry or rice.  I personally loved the stainless steel knob on the lid of the pans..  These  cute pans have a capacity of 0.3l and are suitable for all hobs including induction too. .Isn’t that great?

Either a pasta bake type dish or a pie. Or even a stew/casserole. They would be well used!
