Cake Crumble Chocolate Truffles

What do you do with your leftover cakes? What do you do when you cakes that you bake fall apart? There is nothing to panic absolutely !! Make Cake Crumble Truffles in a jiffy.

Have you ever wondered what to do when your delicious cakes/ muffins that you bake fall apart? Well, they call for extra work, baking them all over again. All kindling a food for thought, what went wrong. Did I not grease the pan properly? Was the mixture a little too moist? Did I overbake it? Did I have to line the non-stick pan too? How can I line a bundt tin?

Disasters like that do happen at the nth minute when you have you to bake a cake for an occasion. It has happened a couple of times in the past and I am not denying that fact!! There is no need to shy away even if it happens to you. And, after all, there 100 factors to be considered what goes into the batter. Unlike cooking on the hob, we cannot alter after pouring the batter into the baking tins. I often bake a batch of my regular fairy cupcakes and it never fails me. One evening I poured the batter as usual into the mini bundt tins and some into the lined muffin tin. 20 Minutes later, I pull them out, allow them to rest and patiently waiting with the impatient kiddos who were glued onto the oven through the whole process. I could easily peel off the ones that were lined but the mini bundt tins didn’t work as desired. Allowing the kids to enjoy their Disney wrapper cupcakes, I worked on scraping the sides of the mini bundt tins and set it aside. Kiddos love them soo much they actually ended up helping themselves with a spoon, every time they passed through the kitchen and it was all gone in a few hours.

A similar episode reoccurred with a different pan, a couple of days ago. And this time, it was 2 large 9-inch cake. They cracked up !! Oh Boy!! Once they cooled down, I crumbled them further, popped them in a mixer jar and made a soft coarse mixture. Sealed one of the portions in packets and popped them in the freezer. With the rest of the cake crumble mixture, I made a batch of cake crumble truffle… They tasted delicious !! They all vanished in a couple of hours when our guests visited us!! I bet you can imagine… Aren’t you drooling already… Now it’s worth every bit if you have a mishap with your baking. You can make some cake pops, cake crumble truffle or even a trifle.

Cake Crumble Truffles

With literally 500g of cake crumbles, over a period of time,  I have made couple batches of truffles with different variations. For one of the batches, I made by just mixing the cake crumble, condensed milk and icing sugar in the same proportions and rolled them in Icing Sugar. For another batch, I used Dark Brown Muscovado Sugar and dusted with cocoa powder.
But to feed my blog, in turn, my lovely readers, I have made it from scratch again, buying ingredients from Aldi Supermarket.

Ingredients:
100g Madiera Cake
75ml Evaporated Milk
50g Ground Almond
200g Icing Sugar
100g Plain Chocolate
Icing & Cocoa Powder for rolling

Directions:
Melt chocolate in a pan, simmering over another pot of water. Once melted and glossy, add all the ingredients and mix well. Roll into small sized balls, by rolling between both your palms and dust them in Icing Sugar or Cocoa Powder as desired. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Cake Crumble + Condensed Milk + Icing Sugar in same proportion, dust with icing sugar
Cake Crumble + Condensed Milk + Dark Muscovado Sugar in same proportion, dust with cocoa powder
