This Halloween Popcorn recipe is a fun, kid-friendly festive treat! With just 5 ingredients and 10 minutes from start to finish, it’s quick, easy, and perfect for your Halloween party. (Vegan and gluten-free!)

What I love about these Halloween party popcorn treats is how easy they are to make.
This recipe is full of personality and super adaptable —you can add sprinkles, M&Ms, peanuts, marshmallows, or candy eyes. For Christmas, I swap in white and red candy melts for a festive twist. Just like Fairy Cupcakes( use it decorate however you like)
When my kids were young, I loved making this Frankenstein Popcorn mix as a weekend project or a fun after-school activity. Then pack it into little spooky treat bags so everyone can take some home.

👩🏻🍳Sandhya's Top Tips
- Gather all your ingredients before you start—this recipe comes together quickly.
- Have the popcorn ready before melting the candy melts. They harden fast, so you’ll need to move quickly.
- Popcorn – If you’re popping it at home, toss out any unpopped kernels. No one enjoys biting into those!
- Candy melts – Keep them away from any moisture. Even a drop of water can ruin the texture and stop them from melting properly.
- If the candy melts feel too thick, stir in a little vegetable oil after melting to loosen them up.
- No candy melts? Use white chocolate with food coloring instead. Just remember—melted chocolates takes longer to set, so spread the popcorn on a lined tray and let it firm up.
- Optional add-ins – Try M&M’s, melted marshmallows, or even cookie pieces for extra fun.
📋Ingredients
Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

- Popped popcorn – I like popping it from scratch, but microwave or pre-popped bags work too. Sweet and salty or plain popcorn both work well. You can even make popcorn in your Instant Pot!
- Chocolate or candy melts – Use one color or a mix. I’ve used green and white candy melts, and added purple with edible food coloring.
- Googly eyes or candy eyes – Easy to find in superstores or on Amazon. You can also make them with white chocolate chips and black gel. I also use them for sausage mummies.
- Sprinkles – Any fun sprinkles will do, either Halloween-themed or your favorites.
🔪How to Make Halloween Popcorn?

Step 1. Pop the popcorn – Make fresh popcorn (try my recipe for How to Make Popcorn in the Instant Pot or use stovetop/store-bought for convenience). Divide into 2 bowls.

Step 2. Melt the candy & Mix with Popcorn– In separate bowls, melt green and purple candy melts (or chocolate) in the microwave. Heat in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth. Pour each melted candy over a bowl of popcorn and stir until coated.

Step 3. Add the mix ins like sprinkles, sweets, and candy eyes. Lets the coating set - its usually very fast.

Step 4. Serve – Mix the purple color popcorns after setting if using then transfer to serving bowls and enjoy!
🍬What Else Can I Make with Popcorn for Halloween?
This Halloween popcorn recipe is such a great base for a bunch of halloween treats. From there, it’s just about changing the shape or adding mix-ins to make something extra festive. Roll it into balls, pile it into clusters, or toss it into a spooky trail mix—the possibilities are endless. Some of my favorite ways to turn plain popcorn into Halloween snacks:
- Halloween Popcorn Balls – Pour melted candy over popcorn, mix in sprinkles and candy eyes, then shape into balls while warm. Perfect for snacking or party favors.
- Popcorn Clusters – Mix melted marshmallows with popcorn and extras like cookies, almonds, or M&M’s. Let them set for easy, bite-sized treats.
- Popcorn Cupcakes – Press popcorn clusters into cupcake liners and top with candy eyes or sprinkles. Cute, festive, and easy to make.
- Halloween Popcorn Trail Mix – Toss popcorn with pretzels, candy corn, chocolates, and sprinkles for a sweet-and-salty snack. For an Indian trail mix, try it with Cornflakes Mixture.

Recipe FAQs
You can find candy melts easily online or in craft stores. I usually order mine from Amazon or pick them up at Hobbycraft. My go-to brands are Wilton Candy Melts and FunCakes Deco Melts—they both work really well.
You can get really creative with mix-ins! M&M’s, candy eyes, mini marshmallows, pretzels, or crushed cookies all work great. For extra Halloween vibes, try orange and black sprinkles or gummy worms.
