Believe it or not, Its so easy to roast Pumpkin Seeds at home. I will guide you through Step by Step Tutorial on how to roast Pumpkin Seeds ?

Fall and Winter is all about Pumpkin and squash in the air. We have got ton’s of recipes to cook with pumpkin flesh and squash flesh. But what do you do with the seeds? Have you thought about it?

Instant Pot Pumpkin Soup & Instant Pot Curried Butternut Squash Soup are my favourite most ways to use the Pumpkin Flesh.  But I do love making  Pumpkin Hummus, Pumpkin Coconut Soup, Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Roti and Pumpkin Curry too.

After carving Jack o Lantern – what do you do with your pumpkin seeds? Please don’t tell me they grace the bins as it has never occurred to you about roasting the seeds at home.

Never mind. Now that you are here, trust me you will roast the seeds henceforth.

HOW TO ROAST PUMPKIN SEEDS?

Well as such there is no recipe to this. There are basically simple steps to follow to roast pumpkin seeds.

The very first step is to halve the pumpkins. If you are cutting the squash, its the same thingy too. Peeling the skin is not essential for roasting the seeds 😉

Second step is to scoop the seeds and stringy bits from the pumpkin using a spoon. If its too hard to remove them, use a knife.

Third step is to run the colander through running cold tap water and clean the seeds. Pat them dry onto the tissue paper.

Hurray, so far we are done with the laborious job so far. Now comes the fun part for roasting seeds.
Season the pumpkin seeds with oil and salt. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes or until crisp and brown at 170 C. They key step is to check the oven at every 10 minutes and rotate the seeds if possible to avoid burning. Store them in an air tight container..

While you carve you Jack-o-Lantern, think twice before discarding the pumpkin seeds. Toast them or Roast them into a gorgeous snack or healthy topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cup Pumpkin Seeds
  • 2-3  fat Pinch of Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Instructions

  • Halve the Pumpkin and scrape out any seeds and stringy bits. Add them all to a colander and run them under cold tap water until the seeds are all rinsed and clean. Dry them with a Kitchen tissue. 
  • Preheat the oven to 170 C. Spread the Pumpkin seeds evenly on a baking sheet. Drizzle oil all over and salt. Give it a good shake and spread it even again.
  • Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes + or until crisp and brown. The key step is to check the oven at every 10 minutes and move them around.
  • Season with any additional salt if needed. Store them in an air tight container or a mason jar. Enjoy munching as a snack or garnish your salads or soups with Pumpkin Seeds.
