Ingredients to make my easy Watermelon frose recipe
To make my easy Frosé recipe, you only need 5 simple ingredients:
- Watermelon: Look for a watermelon that sounds hollow when tapped and has a uniform shape. The skin should be free from bruises or dents. Alternatively, save time by using store-bought cubed fresh watermelon from Del Monte.
- Frosé Wine: Opt for any full-bodied rose like Pinot Noir or Merlot rosé for that perfect Frosé flavour. Alternatively, I also prefer to use M&S french rose wine or english rose wine for this recipe.
- Simple Syrup for Cocktails: You can grab a pre-made bottle of simple syrup from your local grocery store, or if you’re feeling DIY, make it at home with just two ingredients – sugar and water.
- Lime or Lemon: Add a zesty kick to your Frosé with a squeeze of lime or lemon.
How to make Homemade Watermelon Frosé? -The Blended Frozen Rosé cocktail:
Making this Watermelon Frosé at home is a breeze, and you can even add your own twist to the recipe. Here’s my take on it, broken down into three simple parts:
1. Freezing the Rosé and Watermelon: Begin by freezing the rosé in ice cube trays and the watermelon chunks separately until they’re nice and frozen. This step sets the stage for the slushie-like consistency we’re aiming for.
2. Crafting the Simple Syrup: Next up, prepare a simple syrup by combining 1 part of sugar and water. Boil until the sugar has completely dissolved. Allow it cool down before adding it to the frose.
3. Bringing it all Together – Making the Frosé: Now, it’s time to blend. In a high-speed blender, combine the frozen rosé cubes, frozen watermelon, lime juice, and the cooled simple syrup. Blend until you achieve that delightful slushie texture. If you prefer an icier drink, toss in a couple of extra ice cubes during the blending process.
Next, transfer the mixture into glasses, garnish with a slice of lime, and there you have it – your homemade Watermelon Frosé.
Variations: Exciting twists to your classic Watermelon Frose cocktail
Spicy Kick: Introduce sliced jalapeños for a bolder, spicier flavour in your Frosé. For an even more intense kick, consider muddling the jalapeños before adding the Frosé to the cup
Tagin Spice: Coat the rim of your serving cups with Tagin spice before pouring in the Frosé cocktail. This adds a delightful, tangy kick to every sip.
Mint: Toss in a handful of fresh mint leaves to infuse your Frosé with a cool and refreshing minty essence.
Strawberries: Switch it up by replacing half the quantity of watermelon with fresh strawberries. This adds a sweet and fruity dimension to your Watermelon Frosé, creating a delightful blend of flavours.
Make ahead Frosé
Get ready for your gathering by making a generous batch of Frosé in advance. For a thicker texture, freeze it in a container for a few hours. Once frozen, scoop the slushie-like cocktail into glasses. Enjoy it with a spoon or let it sit for a few minutes to reach the perfect consistency. For a lighter touch, add a splash of wine or watermelon juice to thin it down.
