Make this easy Watermelon Frose recipe with just five ingredients—rosé wine, watermelon, sugar, lime, and ice cubes. With a little prep ahead, you can blend up this perfect frozen rosé in minutes. A refreshing summer cocktail ready in just 10 minutes!

Watermelon frose drink

I first tried Frosé in the summer of 2016, thanks to Bon Appétit, and I’ve loved it ever since. This Watermelon Frosé is a wine-based frozen cocktail that’s so refreshing, easy to make, and perfect for warm weather.

Just blend frozen watermelon and frozen rosé, and you’ve got a delicious slushie-style drink! It reminds me of my childhood in Bombay when street vendors sold golas—colorful ice slushes on a stick. While it’s not a traditional cocktail, it’s just as fun and flavorful like Strawberry Moscow Mule. So good! I would also use homemade pineapple juice or fresh strawberry juice to make an easy frose recipe.

  •  Super easy—just blend and serve.
  •  Fun to customize—swap ingredients for new flavors!

Ingredients

(Detailed ingredients and measurements in mentioned in the recipe card below)

ingredients to make Frose cocktail
  • Watermelon: Look for a seedless variety watermelon that sounds hollow when tapped and has a uniform shape. The skin should be free from bruises or dents. You can save time by using store-bought cubed fresh Juicy watermelon.
  • Dry Rosé Wine: I prefer to use Marks & Spencers french rose wine or english rose wine for this easy frosé recipe. You can also opt for any full-bodied rose like Pinot Noir or Merlot rosé for that perfect Frosé flavour.
  • Sugar - Just enough to sweeten. Alternatively use any sweetener you prefer like honey, maple syrup etc.
  • Lime or Lemon: Add a zesty kick to your Frosé with a squeeze of lime or lemon.

Top Tips for the Perfect Watermelon Frosé

  • Adjust sweetness: Taste and adjust the sugar or honey to your liking for the perfect balance of flavors
  • Use a high-speed blender: For a smooth and creamy consistency, a high-speed blender will make all the difference.
  • Freeze the wine and watermelon: This creates the ideal slushie-like texture you’re aiming for.
  • Blend just before serving: For the best texture and freshness, blend and serve immediately.
  • Chill your glasses: For an extra cool touch, place your glasses in the freezer before serving.

Step 4: Pour into glasses, garnish with a lime slice, and enjoy immediately!

Variations

  • Spicy Kick:Add sliced jalapeños for a bold, spicy flavor in your Frosé. Muddle the jalapeños for an even stronger kick.
  • Tajin Spice: Coat the rim of your glasses with Tajin spice before pouring in your Frosé for a tangy, zesty twist.
  • Mint: Infuse your Frosé with a handful of fresh mint leaves for a cool, refreshing touch—perfect for a Watermelon Mint Frosé.
  • Strawberry Frosé: Replace half or all of the watermelon with fresh strawberries for a fruity and vibrant twist.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this rosé wine slushie right away for the best texture! I simply pour it into any fancy glass, stemless wine glass or a beer mug. For garnish I top my drinks off with  slice of lime or watermelon. If you prefer, you can also rim each glass in sugar.

This frozen rosé cocktail is the ideal refreshing drink for a British summer barbecue, summer parties, and casual get-togethers!

Easy Make-Ahead Frosé Recipe

You can easily make a generous batch of Frosé in advance for your next gathering. By making this simple, make-ahead Frosé recipe, you save time and ensure that you have a refreshing frozen cocktail ready whenever you need it.

For a thicker, slushie-like texture, I freeze the prepared rosé mixture in a large container for a few hours. Once frozen, scoop the Frosé into glasses like vegan mango sorbet and enjoy with a spoon, or let it sit for a few minutes to reach the perfect consistency.

If you prefer a lighter touch like me, I like to add a splash of homemade watermelon juice or rosé wine to thin it down.
