- Self-Raising Flour: also known as self-rising flour. To substitute with plain flour or all-purpose flour, add baking powder to it.

- Cocoa Powder: Good Quality unsweetened cocoa powder makes a difference in flavours.
- Milk: I use any milk that’s in the fridge – whole milk or semi-skimmed milk usually. Any plant-based milk will also work.

- Chocolate chips are optional – Add them if you like it chocolatey.
How to make Eggless Chocolate Mug Cake in Air fryer?: Step by Step Guide
It’s super simple and straightforward to make these Air fryer Mug Cake No eggs.
- Step 1: In the mug, add the flour, cocoa, and sugar. Use a fork to combine.
- Step 2: Add the wet ingredients – milk, oil, vanilla extract, and mix well.
- Step 3: Add the chocolate chips on the top.
- Step 4: Place the mug in a preheated air fryer. Cook in the air fryer for 13-15 minutes. Check whether the mug cake is baked through by inserting a skewer or toothpick in the middle of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is done. If the skewer is wet or with moist crumbles, cook for a further 3 minutes. I cooked for a total of 15 minutes.
- Step 5: Take the mug cake carefully using a kitchen towel or oven mitts. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Serve on its own or with your favourite toppings
Storing Air fryer Mug Cake
Mug cake tastes best when served warm on the same day. If you plan to serve it the next day, always cover and store the cake in the fridge. Before serving, heat the cake thoroughly in the microwave until it’s warm, and then enjoy!
Air fryer Cake baking time and temperature
If you are wondering how long to bake your mug cake in the air fryer, it totally depends on the size of the air fryer.
I’ve found that baking the mug cake at 170°C (340°F) works best in most sizes of air fryers. For the air fryer mug cakes, I’ve used both Instant Vortex plus VersaZone 8.5L and Instant Vortex 6-in-1 6.5L.
The air fryer mug cake cooks slightly quicker in my 6.5L air fryer than in my 8.5L one.
Always visually check the mug cake for any wet spots and ensure the cake is springy to touch. Also, perform the skewer/toothpick test. If you see wet spots, always add another 1 -2 minutes of further cooking time.

Most ceramic or heat-resistant mugs are suitable for use in the air fryer, but check your air fryer’s manual to be sure. Look for an “oven-safe” label on the mug.
