TIPS to make delicious ROASTED BRUSSEL SPROUTS
Size is important – The key is to have uniform-sized Brussel sprouts.
Prep the Brussel sprouts properly – Slice the bottom end and remove any wilted discolored leaves. Half the sprouts vertically.
Season well – Do not just stick to seasoning with salt & pepper. Flavor generously with salt, pepper, garlic, and lemon for a garlic roasted Brussel sprouts recipe.
Combine the ingredients with a wooden spoon or hands – This is essential to avoid over mixing.
Cook in a single layer – Like most roast vegetables, cook Brussel sprouts in a single layer too. This is necessary to cook them evenly and crisp up.
Don’t forget to flip at halftime! – My air fryer prompts at halftime to turn the food. If your air fryer does not prompt, use a timer and shake the basket halfway through.
Size of the Air fryer will determine the cooking time – A larger capacity air fryer cooks faster as compared to the smaller ones. My Instant Pot Vortex 6 in 1 has a 5.7l capacity and cooks really fast compared to 3l capacity.
How long to cook Brussels sprouts in the Air fryer?
Preheat the air fryer for 2-3 minutes according to the model. My Instant Pot Vortex 6 in 1 air fryer takes about 2 minutes, after setting the temperature. It will prompt me to add the food once the temperature is achieved. As the air fryer capacity is large, it cooks them quickly too.
Once the Brussel sprouts are tossed in seasoning, then simply Air fry.
At 360F/ 180C, the Brussel sprouts are ready in 10 -12 minutes.
At 380F/ 190 C, the Brussel sprouts are ready in 8-10 minutes.
If you like a little more charred and extra crispy, cook at a higher temperature of 400F /205 C. Adjust the cooking time accordingly.
No matter what temperature you choose, flip at halftime or shake the basket to flip. Roast until they are tender and golden on the edges.
The smaller capacity air fryer will need a longer cooking time. Add a couple of minutes as necessary.
